CANADA’S ROAD TO THE 2024 DAVIS CUP FINALS
After falling to Finland in the quarter-finals at the 2023 Davis Cup Final 8 in Malaga, Spain, Canada was entered into the draw for the 2024 Davis Cup Qualifiers. The result was a home tie against the Republic of Korea at IGA Stadium in Montreal which the Canadians won 3-1 in front of their fans to qualify for the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals.
GROUP STAGE FORMAT
The Group Stage will feature 16 teams. Australia (2023 runners-up), Great Britain (wild card), Italy (2023 champions), Spain (wild card), Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia, USA.
The Canadians will feature in Group D alongside Great Britain, Finland, and Argentina at the AO Arena in Manchester, Great Britain, from September 10 to 15, 2024.
Félix Auger-Aliassime (Montreal, QC), Denis Shapovalov (Richmond Hill, ON), Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON), Vasek Pospisil (Vernon, BC), and Gabriel Diallo (Montreal, QC) will represent Team Canada in Manchester.
“We are absolutely delighted to be taking such a strong team to Manchester for the Davis Cup Group Stage,” said captain Frank Dancevic. “This group of players has a great mix of youth and experience, and we look forward to testing ourselves against strong opponents. It will be a challenge but we are confident we can be successful and qualify for the Final 8.”
