For tennis to grow in Canada, it is important to get racquets in the hands of youth as early as possible. That’s what Rogers First Set is for.
In 2023, Tennis Canada introduced the Rogers First Set program designed to inspire youth and families across Canada to learn fundamental skills in a safe, fun, and welcoming environment. The first glimpse of the program came during the 2023 National Bank Open
Programming related to the Rogers First Set will be returning to the NBO in both cities in 2024.
On Family Weekend in both Toronto and Montreal, Rogers First Set will be hosting fun activities where youth will have a chance to pick up a racquet and give tennis a try.
From 12:30 pm to 2:00 each day in both cities, the Rogers First Set Activities will give youth a chance to learn some new tennis skills from a certified instructor. Additionally, there will be games where participants have a chance to test out their skills and win fun prizes.

Once main draw play gets underway on Aug. 6, Rogers First Set programming will continue on-site in both Toronto and Montreal on the grounds.
In Toronto, there will be activities run by Rogers First Set on the Rogers First Set Tennis court from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, perfect timing for fans to stop by and give it a try before the action begins on Centre Court.
In Montreal, the activities will run from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on the Rogers First Set Tennis activation in the Tennis Canada fan zone on Tuesday and Wednesday.
At these times, youth will get to step on court with a certified instructor and will be taught a new skill. They will then get to practice that skill in a game. And of course, there will be prizes.

Additionally, there will be demonstrations on the show courts where youth under the age of 12 will play a game on the main courts (Centre Court in Toronto, Centre Court and Rogers Court in Montreal). There will also be Rogers First Set giveaways for fans throughout the week.
It is an opportunity no one should miss.
